think Iowa City 2001 playing Sabotage at 70% speed with his long lost cousin
Stockholm 2006 (blonde, legs up to her neck and great stats)while doing glue with Bill
and they start tripping that Ryan Adams is throwing them curve balls all night and you
get a feel for what the show was like.
A wierd one!

Hello to the promoter Willie who made us feel right at home and got us a great spot on the balcony to watch the show
I couldn't get through on the phone to the peeps i promised to call no signal so hopefully tomorrow night.

A total blast in Stockholm the last 2 days;what a great city!

Typecast has a jazzy feel to it Kev
one of Ryan's 3 minute poppy songs is how i'd describe it
they've been soundchecking of late

thanks once again john. nice description of the show. although i prefer not to think of iowa city whenever possible.

i also just discovered the "thanks" feature. and subsequently discovered that i can take away said thanks at my own discretion. so watch it johnC, otherwise that thanks will be yanked.

i totally wrote that, then looked at all the new mumbo jumbo and found just the most perfect thing to say how my mind feels listening to all these epic shows lately. i feel like this time in ryan's career will be looked on with such endearment. at least, thats how i feel right now.

My view on last night

A weird show yes, a pretty freakin’ good show also.
Thought it was a bit late not to start 'til 10.40. The place was kind of packed when I got there about 9. Anyway...

Show started of great with A kiss, loved the version of NY NY, Blue hotel as strong as usual. Goodnight rose was great but I didn't fancy how they crashed the song into a very long jam. It was the first real disruption of the rhythm of the show. Harder now that it's over was awesome; they probably got the biggest cheer from the audience for that one. I believe it was at the beginning of Beautiful sorta that (from what I could tell) Ryan had some problems with his hearing. He had complained about it earlier. Something with the technical gear I believe… That might, to some point at least, explain why he got so pissed later.

Let it ride had to start over (tuning problems) but of course it was excellent. Then he got into a big dispute with the audience. Some guy yelled out a song (normal concert behaviour I think) and Ryan attacked him with a “No no no, it’s not gonna happen, so just shut up, play it at home on your stereo, these things disturbs our show” etc... This caused some cheers at first but then also quite a few “booos”. He saves the situation with a gorgeous The End. Soon enough a lot more people are shouting out songs, believe a so69 might have slipped in and that did it. First an sarcastic laugh, followed with a “that’s it, goodnight…”. Rushes of, band looks surprised, lights on, some people starts to leave. I was almost certain it was over but the remaining audience manage to clap the guy in again. I sure was happy it happened but to be honest didn’t he really deserve it. The final part of the show he did with the old-school mic at the back of the stage. It was nice in some of the songs but didn’t help Shakedown, which instead lost a lot of power. Also he fooled around with the lyrics in some songs making it about drunken idiots who yells things on guys on stage…

The new song Typecast nice to hear, very nice versions of Mockingbird Song (slow) and I see monsters (also slow), a beautiful Elizabeth and then a kind of obscure ending.

To sum it up, a lot of great tunes, some problems with keeping all the stuff together though - I’m not a big fan of all of the jams… It got pretty tempo-lacking at times. The man clearly not in the best of moods and it wasn’t the best of endings. Interesting as always.

Cheers!

What!? The final songs, after the break were awsome! I couldn't keep my feet from moving! Not before the break either ofcourse but I really enjoyed the final part!

Hey John..! Is this audio coming up aswell? Gee,I need the feeling again. My body is declaring a war against me. It needs some more loud Ryan Adams music to get the blood running through. Frontrow is great cause you could be deaf and still hear the songs.. on the inside. Wicked!

Just arrived from Stockholm now. I thought the show was good, but a bit strange. But I'm so tired of the f*****s who yell things at ryan.. And i agree with above, i didnt think ryan would come back after the "summer of 69" yell. But im glad he did. It seems like ryans temper was a bit up and down during the show, thanks to some assholes and some problems with the guitar not being tuned etc.. I stood at front row and you could see that he smiled alot and he seemed to have quite a good time anyway. Harder now that its over and Judy Garland was really good! And ofcourse Party Clown =P
Also i think that ryan was disturbed by the press photographers, and i think he got them to leave.. Which was a good thing because they stood in the way for the audience at front!
I read a review of the show today that wasnt very nice.. But they only had things to say about his hairdo and that they didnt like his, as they called it, "emo-country" and also complained about the "hippe, grateful dead jams", but that newspaper is crap anyway so you couldnt expect anything else really..
And thanks again to John for being friendly and for recording the shows etc.. =)

Cheers

Here's a few small versions of the pictures from the show..

I think it really depends on his mood. Me yelling for poor southern girl(could have been my choice of song) only got him smiling when he heard it, but no reaction after that and the guy who yelled summer of 69 a bit too loud got to see Ryans red boot. But he kept smiling and it didn't seem to bother him.

My opinion on Friday night.

A great first part of the show. I loved the jamming om Magnolia Mountain and Cold Roses> Goodnight Rose> Please Do Not Let Me Go (if I remember correctly).

After the break the show got a bit lame until the last 3-4 songs. I m really glad I gott to hear Wharf Rat into Truck... sorry 29;-) It's just a pity Ryan didn't play the scheduled Stella as well.

Here is a quite nice review of the Stockholm concert from somebody who seems to know what he is talking about.

My swedish is not good enough so that I could translate it but maybe someone will? Any volunteers?
