Anyone besides Joel & I love the greatest rock & roll band since Whiskeytown?

They rock! Joel introduced me to them and I am waiting for them to hit Michigan so I can go see em live.
I love them! Joel is spreading the gospel it seems, because he introduced Autumnstars to them, as she did me in turn.

I love this group. I've seen them play twice, too-- fantastic bar band. Their lead singer bummed a smoke off my buddy.
Funky, you should give a listen to their album "Tennessee"-- it's probably the best alt-country I've heard since "Pneumonia."

Well, that was enough recommendations, from people I respect, for me to toddle off to Amazon & give 'em a listen. Liked what I heard & ordered 3 albums! I got Chris CO itis!! ;)
I bought That Much Further West (with bonus cd)
Tennesse &
Dreaming In America (with DVD)
All very reasonably priced.
Can somebody fill me in on their complete album output (incl. bonus discs etc) & tell me how long they've been around please?
Cheers guys. :)

They've been together since 1998.There 1st cd 2000's "The Attic Tapes" was recently rereleased with some bonus tracks & early 45's.The "Attic Tapes" & there 2001 release "Self-Titled" are far more country punk than the band displays these days.2002's "Tennessee" starts the turn as the band finds pop sensibilities not unlike Whiskeytown's "Pneumonia",and adds it to their country, punk roots & begins to become more of a flat out rock band.2003's "That Much Further West" & 2005's "Nobody's Darling's" have just seen this band really mature with excellent lyrics, melodies, and hooks that drive every song.Rolling Stone called "That Much Further West","The country album the Replacements never made".The Rlacements are a definate influence along with Springsteen, the Clash,Tom Petty...They are currently recording a new cd in Richmond,Va with David Lowry of Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven. The new songs are great & the next release is going to be big.
Their live shows are rock out affairs, that will leave you worn out.Never a setlist so every nite is something new & always fun.
Buy their cds from their website, cheaper & the band get more $.

If anyone wants any shows, let us know...
Lucero is one of the few bands I would travel to see live. Like Dan said, they don't follow a setlist so every night is new. They are amazing live...

Agreed. I might not travel as far as I would to see Ryan, but after that live recording Joel gave me, I wish they would come somewhere in the California/Nevada/Arizona area.
Any other shows you have, Joel, would make me so happy!...

Joel, if you've found or recorded anything recent, I'd love to hear it.

Hey I've been meaning to check them out for a while. Hope to catch a show soon. Which CD is a good one to start with? Their live show clearly kicks ass from what I can see from the video.

Thanks for the synopsis Detroit.
Anything that sounds like The Replacements has gotta be good!
Looking forward to the albums arriving now. Unfortunately, I had to order them as imports from the States, so I'm going to have to wait a while. :)
