See you all tomorrow! Looking forward to it. Pre-show drinks at the Amstel hotel
Nah, maybe cafe Nel at the Amstelveld, or something like Cafe de Magere Brug?

Yes, I'll be there... Wouldn't miss RA in Carre...

Re: 12/05/06 Amsterdam, Holland - Carre Theatre - Setlist & Reviews

Setlist pretty much the same apart from leaving out Why do they leave, adding Damn Sam and Jacksonville Skyline to the set and the encore was Holy Diver. Oh and quite a lengthy detailed Mr Cat.

Right, time to catch some sleep.

Re: 12/05/06 Amsterdam, Holland - Carre Theatre - Setlist & Reviews

Uh...? Why Do They Leave was played, wasn't it?

Good show... I really liked Jason Isbell's set. We were seated as high up as you can get in Carre, so the views weren't that good, but the sound was great... English Girls and the Mr.Cat tune were highlights for me, and I kinda liked my first Holy Diver... Just one show for me this run, and that's enough, moneywise and considering the 'consistency' in setlists...

Thanks to all involved, RA and JI ofcourse, and it was good to meet a bunch of RAA peeps again, e.g. the two ladies above... Just wondering though if Wonderwall is on her way to Kopenhagen...

Re: 12/05/06 Amsterdam, Holland - Carre Theatre - Setlist & Reviews

Great night, good to see everyone again.

'Why do they leave' was most definitely played!

Highlights in the set for me were 'English Girls', and the fact that Ryan found it necessary to pick on my girlfriend for making a face during it ;-) . I also liked a spirited 'Ashes & Fire' in the beginning of the set and 'Everybody Knows' was beautiful. The encore - 'Holy Diver' was awesome too.

As said on earlier shows - good show, but not as special as some of them in the past. But, then again, who are we to talk because we all have seen too many shows already. My friends who have seen Ryan for the first time were blown away, and that's what counts!

Also - heads up for Mr. Isbell! I thought he was really good too!

Re: 12/05/06 Amsterdam, Holland - Carre Theatre - Setlist & Reviews

Ok, so maybe Why Do They Leave was played. Then he must have skipped When Will You Come Back Home?

Highlights of the set were Ashes & Fire, Do I Wait, English Girls, Winding Wheel and Holy Diver.
Highlights of the night:
- Ryan being very focused during the show, especially when on piano (though Tom disagrees with me)
- Ryan's funny impersonation of Jason.
- A very quiet and appreciative crowd, though at some point I did feel a bit like 'klapvee' only politely clapping when allowed.
- Being at this amazing venue with all you lovely people. Kees, next time I will bring you binoculars Thanks so much for the fun night and the ride home.

With regards to Isbell - he sounded much better than in Paris and he did grow on me, but there's something about his songs... they somehow don't hit home when played live, while they sound lovely on record.

No Copenhagen unfortunately. We did look at flights in the middle of the night and while I certainly am a little crazy, this was even too crazy for me. Haven't even slept yet though, so maybe I should close my eyes for a bit now. Knowing miss V will be there tonight is enough for me.

Damn Sam was later in the set - I'm pretty sure some songs after 'English Girls' ....
Rest of it seems pretty accurate.

Good to see you all too!

Ah, Carre got her picture taken by Jason Isbell....

Lovely place, though I can tell you sitting high up there, as high as you can get, is not funny, at least not when you're not high in any other way...

Re: 12/05/06 Amsterdam, Holland - Carre Theatre - Setlist & Reviews

By the way - for the dutchies - two reviews:

The first one from respected music magazine OOR implies that Carice van Houten has made him famous and that only because of her he is performing in NL for the third time in one year. The reviewer also obivously hasn't really listened to anything apart from Heartbreaker.
http://oor.nl/#reviews/concerts/1989...oor_ryan_adams

The second review from nu.nl I like a lot better - especially the photo next to the article (LOL):

LOL.

Just threw 'Mr Research' the archived setlists of Answeringbell.com, as he implied that since 'he couldn't remember that Ryan Adams came to Holland the last ten years' that actually happened. Journalism... sigh...

Re: 12/05/06 Amsterdam, Holland - Carre Theatre - Setlist & Reviews

Being my 10th Ryan show so far, I must admit that the man is getting better and better. The Amsterdam show was more enjoyable than the Antwerp one, for both acts (support and ryan). The only thing i really dislike is the stage lights, its way out to dark (my eyes are getting very tired during the show and starts to hurt. Dont understand why the light"show" is so boring (only red and light spots, without any variation). Maybe he likes to perform in the dark plus its hard for the audience to take pictures.... dont understand why Ryan is so picky at this moment of taking pics and making video or sound recordings. I guess we make recordings anyway just for "private use" dont we???
