""Graboff are really able to steal the show at moments and when graboff got on regular guitar, he could really play, had a great style and tone very different than ryans (even though he was playing thru ryans rig and guitars"
what guitar did he play? he has quite a collection and usually plays his own Les Paul...

Re: 8/23 TONIGHTs SHOW
I tried getting a few posters, but they would only give me one. I even slipped the guy a twenty and he said "no". actually that was not true, but they would only give me one.

Re: 8/23 TONIGHTs SHOW
$25.00, plus $7.00 for shipping. The dude's also selling a Tokio Hotel Fillmore poster. Evidently, the Fillmore must pass these out after every show? Says they're part of the long-running, numbered, Bill Graham presents series. Hmmmm...are the Ryan posters numbered? Just curious is all.

Re: 8/23 TONIGHTs SHOW
Great night at the Fillmore once again. There are always going to be assholes in a crowd but for the most part it was chill. Lots of room to move/dance etc...My posse ended up with 2 extra tix last minute so upon arriving at the venue I saw a woman looking for a ticket. She was so thrilled to find one she just lit up but needed one more for her partner so I grabbed my bro at will call and we hooked up her guy as well...so later on in the venue I see them and it turns out they were from Japan and only in SF for the weekend! Anyway super sweet folks! Reminded me that I really do want to make it to Japan one day...Anyway...Cardinals came out on fire from the get go! Ryan's passion was/is always a wonderful thing to experience and he played his ass off last night...For me, it was like two distinct shows...First set seriously rippin'...Second not so much for me (Also I believe they were on the west coast for only one day so by the end it was almost 5:00am EC time)...but I loved the new tunes and they're certainly getting their toes wet with them...I expect these tunes will grow and expand as the tour unfolds...Might have to go with Cobwebs as a fave at the moment. I loved that they ended the show with a new tune! Anyway hardly slept...but it's a beautiful day...Thanks again Cardinals for a real good time...would have been great to get Phil up there for a minute...but he seemed to be totally enjoying the show...

Posters are not numbered. I saw a few boxes so I imagine they made quite a bit. My brother said they only print them at the Fillmore if they sell out the arena or of the artist pays for them. Not sure in this case.

Re: 8/23 TONIGHTs SHOW
Love reading all of these reviews; thanks everyone for your input and taking the time to share with us. Thanks for posting the photo of the poster; it is too cool. I'll be counting the days until the Texas shows.
RAA is one fantastic community! We all already know that of course, but it is especially enjoyable during tour time, the way everybody pitches in and texts in the setlists realtime for those of us at home, and posts reviews and photos soon after the shows. So much excitement, so much fun, so much Cardinal Love!

Re: 8/23 TONIGHTs SHOW
Just wanted to add that the posters at the Fillmore are a long standing tradition from Bill Graham. I've got a couple dozen in my collection including a Ryan Adams one from 2005 as well. They make a limited supply so you want to be among the first out the door to make sure you get one.

Ok so I caved (major impulse buy)...
Weird, I cannot tell you the way that I associate the DT with DRA... very cool to have something tie them together....
What an incredible poster....
... did I mention I thought the poster was cool? Perfect?

Re: 8/23 TONIGHTs SHOW
oh ya! the posters. that was so cool and what a cool poster! big surprise as was leaving. haven't looked at it too closely yet, today cuz....was so tired last night after all that festivalling and walking, etc. Seemed like a very skinny cowboy tho. beautiful poster and art! very kind and generous of them to give that out after.
but got mine signed by Neal and Jon. I just looked at Jon and handed him a pen and he kindof looked at me suprised. "Like what? You want me to sign it?" and then I tried to make a joke..."Well I'm soooo stttar struck!" (meaning why I wasn't using words). Really it's cuz I had decided if I did happen to see Ryan after the show (which of course the chances were very slim, tho we did see him walking by before the show. which of course was very sweet! Neal, too.) Anyways, where was I? Oh ya, I had decided I would keep my mouth shut and not say anything in case I said something 'wrong' or dumb or something.
Ya, I thought the crowd was lovely, mostly. Everyone around me in my area was so nice and happy and good natured. Polite and kind, too. One woman next to me was a hard core and so ardent RA fan so that was really cool! We were both getting so excited about some of the songs. And even those I met who this was their first RATC show....seemed extremely exuberant, impressed and pleased! that made me happy too.
ya, the heckling and song choice requests made me cringe a bit. but seem to be always or often present at RATC shows. it would be nice if it wasn't. (Ryan's comment about the Labatts was prob true.)
I wish, wish I checked this place (message board) before. I had no clue what was going on! I surprised myself by leaving Outside Lands Festival very early...I was getting burnt out on it and didn't hanker to see any more bands...not even Cake which is purely idiotic on my part! etc. etc.
anyhoo. got to Fillmore at 6. two people outside waiting. didn't wanna look like a groupie. went to get coffee and such. by 7ish they weren't there anymore so I thought they had left. I didn't know about that line at the next building! all those people! dduuuhhh! on my part. so off to the Goodwill to shop a bit. bought a pyschedelic candle (the round kind with trippy designs on the outside) and thought to maybe 'offer' it for the show..light it, etc. But didn't. Then for an hour or so went to blues bar there on the corner.
Anyways, still had a great time and people around were just the best! Adds to the enjoyment of a show.
Loved all the new songs! Especially the Evergreen one and the one at the end about "when I fall...." or something. Ryan's songwriting abilities seem to be very much intact. The new songs were all very full and enjoyable to listen to....not to mention the lyrics.

Re: 8/23 TONIGHTs SHOW
wait! what?! Tom Petty was in attendance?! nooooo kidding! wow.
oh ya. Cobwebs. I recognised that song and reallly like it!!! Catch me. So easy to relate to. I really felt that part of Ryan (my impression, anyways) about hurting and longing and the whole wanting to 'fix' things, etc.
I'm sure I'm not alone in that there's prob tons and tons of gals who feel that feeling or urge like you'd like to comfort him, take away some of that um 'pain' (seems very sincere) and hug him and all that.
don't get mad at me for sayin that!
(I just got 'shit' from someone here at the fest cuz I didn't say exactly what they said about the show last night. there was no room for disagreement. I was expected to say and feel exactly what she said. fuckin weird. but whatever.)
