Back from the Seattle show

They were at tight as I've ever heard them. As kick ass as Ryan was, it felt more like a Cardinals show than any I've seen.

Broadway
P Valley
Let it Ride
Fix It
Shakedown
Cobwebs
Please Do Not Let Me Go
Cold Roses
Everybody Knows - Decent Jam, Neil is the man.
Rescue Blues Ryan on vocals a bit sloppy, or maybe just the new style for it.
OMG, Ryan on vocals.
Two, Ryan on the Fender again
Easy P

Oasis is awful and their fans are worse. We left after it was clear Ryan wasn't coming out for Wonderwall.

This wasn't what I was expecting after reading his blog but hope you had a good time.

I'm not an Oasis fan - didn't know they were that bad though.

Re: Back from the Seattle show

Honestly the Card's set was well worth it, I had a great time.
Oasis is bad and boring. I "like" them just fine... I mean, I've heard them here and there since the 90s and thought it was fine... I don't ever want to watch it live again.
Just my opinion...

Re: Back from the Seattle show

Oh my gosh, I couldn't agree more. I wasn't too familiar with Oasis but their fans were a little scary - testosterone-fueled frat boys. Rude and obnoxious so I admit my opinion of the band was a bit tainted before they started but...I just didn't get it...We left after 5 or 6 songs - couldn't take it anymore.

Ryan was great and just as creative and funny as ever.

Re: Back from the Seattle show

yeah, ryan and the cards sounded great. i kept waiting for a huge jam session and then i remembered it wouldn't appeal to the general audience. so in that sense, i'm glad they held back. but a jam session is great every once in awhile. and they did maybe one, so that was great.

i agree on oasis fans, though. i had no idea they were so insane. i had a seat next to the most annoying oasis fan possibly ever. he and his wife/girlfriend/etc entered during one of the last ryan songs and he was pumping his fist, 'playing drums', etcetc. but he was COMPLETELY off tempo. and then during the jam session? oh lord. he'd put out his hands like he was ready to slam them down, but you know, it's a jam session and you never know where they're going. so he held them out in front of him for a good 20 seconds before realizing he had no idea what was going on. kind of funny, but completely annoying.

and oasis is definately boring live. disappointing. though i shouldn't be surprised. i like oasis for sure, but.......their songs are fairly basic, so i shouldn't have been surprised over the basic-ness of the set. whatever. i've seen them play wonderwall and what's the story morning glory, i'm good. but what's up with liam clapping for his band and himself after EVERY SONG? give me a break, buddy.

oh ALSO; matt costa was GREAT! i only caught the last 4-5 songs, but he was real good. for me, it was ryan adams (duh)>matt costa>oasis. too bad.

Dear RAA,

I heart you.

Sincerely, MGL.

Glad I'm not alone. I didn't see Matt as I was catching up with friends sadly.

I think the point is that our boys kicked ass and then some other shit happened. Good times.

Re: Back from the Seattle show

Sounds like a good Cardinals set. How long did they play? That seems like quite a lot to fit into an hour or so.

As regards Oasis, that's pretty much as expected. They have all the self-regard in the world, and about 7% of the talent required to back it up. But then, they are NOT MY SCENE. Were the fans ok during the Cardinals set?

I'm curious as well.

The WaMu venue is the second reason (behind Oasis)
for not going to the show. It's a cavernous tent like
thing. Not set up well at all. I saw Neil Young there
and the only saving grace was being behind the
soundboard, so the sound was okay - just okay.
Still sounds like a burner of a show with NEW SONGS.
Hell yes. Major props to the Cards fans that did turn
out to represent.

there was no mention of this being a frat boy, but previous posts mentioned the frat boy factor. what is it and their desire to put their arms straight out and move that way at shows. i saw coldplay once and there were TONS of frat-men who were doing that very same move. they all got very emotional during the chorus and would grab the top of their head and sing. oh well very interesting side acts during a show is amusing. i also wonder oasis fans reaction to the cards. i mean most frat-men enjoy the band O.A.R. not saying they are the cards, but a tad similar with having some small guitary jams.

Re: Back from the Seattle show

I wasn't sure whether fans of Oasis on the other side of the pond would be the same as those in the UK, but it seems they are! I've had some terrible experiences at Oasis gigs in the past - they used to be great live, but not now - including seeing some excellent support acts getting booed, jeered and heckled, and regularly ducking to avoid pints of piss being thrown around the audience. There is always a fairly sizeable minority of boneheads in attendance; that combined with the fact that they now make incredibly dull, boring and repetitive facsimiles of their former glories means I'd never in a million years want to go and see them again.
