Re: Lyrics to Mandy Moore's "Bug" off her new album Amanda Leigh

I was listening to snippets of her most recent record on iTunes, and I have to say, she's gotten a lot better. I'm interested to see how this new one turns out. I agree, my two most favourite people as well. Their happiness makes me feel better about relationships.

Re: Lyrics to Mandy Moore's "Bug" off her new album Amanda Leigh

aw, that's really sweet!

that's so funny!

"I stay on track
You're all over the map"

That's my sense about them. She prob grounds him.

It's quite something that they've been able to keep all this mostly under the radar for so long! Glad it's worked out! Kindof admirable. Instead of a big, hot heavy, instant fireworks kinda 'thing'...or so it's seemed. Seems like it started out mostly as friendship and has built up over time. I think I remember reading about a year ago or so, too....that MM tends to be cautious romantically. doesn't easily trust guys.

anyways, it's pretty darn groovy cool! that's it blossomed into something strong and real.

"Their happiness makes me feel better about relationships."

I'd have to agree with that! Even just a wee, tiny, bit.

She trusted Wilmer Valderama, Andy Roddick, Zach Braff, DJ AM (Adam Goldstein), etc.

To be fair, she wasn't engaged to any of them.

Honestly, we have nothing other than anecdotal stuff about what either is like in a relationship.

oh sorry! no. I seem to remember reading something...quite a long time ago...that it took her a long time to 'trust' (a guy) or something. not that she didn't trust guys. that wasn't the point.

I know very little about MM anyways. sorry. didn't mean she never has boyfriends. just that she might not be someone to commit wholeheartedly and quickly until she was sure she was doing the right thing. or something like that. that's how I interpreted what I read at the time.

(can't help but remember some of those kindof funny pictures from last year. when they were 'seen' about town...LA. and he looked so focused on and into her....judging by his body language and facial expressions. and she looked a little like "what the hell! you're cute but you're a bit whacked...." or something like that.)

Umm, I'm happy for them and all but.... that is not a very good song. Or poem. Or set of lyrics. Maybe the track is better than it looks on paper, but "Is this the only way for us to communicate" is not slaying me with it's bittersweet lyrical beauty. Hopefully Ry will teach her something good...

haha, thats what I was thinking. They are quite simplistic. Get a few RA imagery in there and she'd be set!

Re: Lyrics to Mandy Moore's "Bug" off her new album Amanda Leigh

i'll prolly end up checking out her new record when it comes out. i was a casual MM fan before i started listening to RA. i was into Nicholas Sparks at the time and actually met him at the time he announced her being in A Walk To Remember. man, that movie was great and the soundtrack is so killer! ive had to buy like 5 copies of it cause my guy friends keeping stealing mine, after making fun of me for listening to her of course, haha. needless to say, i got older, discovered RA/ women/ booze and kinda grew outta that phase.

I totally agree. Not trying to offend any MM fans, but at this point I sincerely hope we do not have to hear any duets-although I guess if RA was in it, the song(s) couldn't be that bad. If in fact he does teach her "something good" I could be easily swayed.

Just thinking out loud here...

Re: Lyrics to Mandy Moore's "Bug" off her new album Amanda Leigh

I wouldn't mind a duet. She's a good singer. I imagine something like Dear John.

As for her lyrics, I'm pretty sure the message in this song gets across. I don't think anyone ever said she was some great songwriter or even on Ryan's level when it comes to lyrics.

I guess I should prepare for everyone comparing her to Ryan now?

I never compared her to Ryan and never said she wasn't a good singer. Just an opinion that could easily change if/when hear the new album. This has nothing to do with her personality or him, I was never a huge fan of MM pre-dating/engagement (this only pertains to music, not acting). Everyone has different musical tastes.

I am definitely happy for them and probably jumping the gun on the duet thing. Like I said, I was just thinking out loud.

I can see the Dear John comparison...

Re: Lyrics to Mandy Moore's "Bug" off her new album Amanda Leigh

My response wasn't entirely directed to you. Really, just the part about the duet.

But I think the general theme of the thread went from "look...this song is about Ryan" to "thats not a very good song...even though I've never heard it" and "yeah, way too simplistic. I hope Ryan can teach her something" type comments.

Its Mandy Moore. Teen pop sensation. Was anyone really expecting her to be the second coming of Bob Dylan? The purpose of the thread wasn't to analyze the lack of Ryan-esque imagery in her song.

You know, I was listening to the latest Pussycat Dolls song the other day and I thought to myself, "Man, they could really use a metaphor about a bluebird in this song."
