Re: Uncut's 150 Best Albums of the 21st Century

hmm... i hate these kinda lists. plenty of good albums, but AGIB #3? it's not even the best WILCO album of the decade. always thought Time (the Revelator) was an overrated snoozefest, and even tho i'm a bruce fan, freakin MAGI has no business being near this list. Kid A, DBT's, Outkast, and #35, 56, 114 and 115 all need moved up. #33 and 34 need to be moved way down. hmm, nothing from the Roots but they got The Streets whackass on there. yea i hate these lists.

Re: Uncut's 150 Best Albums of the 21st Century

Looks like the writes are Jack White fans, I just can't see White Blood Cells as number 1.
Glad to see The Rising at 19, but think it should be even further down. These things are more fun than serious, but it's great that Ryan has two albums on it. Although Gold is not my near my favorite of his albums, it was what turned me onto his music (as it did many others) and for that should be on the list.

How could Eminem not be on that list? Pretty solid list though.

The most glaring omission I see--or, I guess, don't see--is Loretta Lynn's "Van Lear Rose." Damn, that's a great record. Easily better than a lot of the ones on that list.

List invalid?

A Ghost Is Born #3. YHF is #35? Come on.

Ray LaMontagne Trouble barely makes the fucking list, while Amy Winehouse is #20?

Re: Uncut's 150 Best Albums of the 21st Century

A little heavy on the Dylan. Kid A should be above In Rainbows. A lot of the right artists, if you're not
considering too deep below mainstream. I'd pick different albums for some of them, though.

You can definitely tell the list-makers had very specific ears.

Re: Uncut's 150 Best Albums of the 21st Century

YHF should be in the top 5, if not number 1. Yoshimi is a very overrated album... maybe 3 very good songs, but only 3 of them are listenable. De Stijl is a better album than white blood cells. I don't know how the National's Boxer isn't on there and Alligator is too low. I think the National is the best (or second after Wilco) best band in America.

Boxer should absolutely be on there. Interesting they favored Alligator over Boxer. I think I may fall that
way, too, but I go back and forth.

Total discred, though.

Re: Uncut's 150 Best Albums of the 21st Century

To quote the piece written underneath the Heartbreaker section at number 9.

"If things had gone differently for him it could have been Ryan Adams on this months cover instead of Jack White. (they have Jack as Man of the Decade). However Drugs, personal instability and a flair for self-destruction eventually denied him the elevation to rock's pantheon of greats he clearly craved, despite good work still to come on Gold, CR and JCN."

Like to know what you guys think of that? I can see their point, but Ryan has still produced some great work and would be my man of the 00's.

i love me some white stripes, but yea, bit heavy on them (especially #1).

i'd say Kid A, YHF, Outkast, Cold Roses, 2nd Raconteurs, SY Murray Street, and one of the Dylans would prolly be around the tops of my list.
