B.o.a.t.
Ok, so this is Rosebud's first thread. Back in the day at dead.net we had a thing called boat, or Best Of All Time referring to the most epic live version of any particular song.
I have a few I'm thinking of that others may wish to seek out if they haven't heard them...or, perhaps someone will say hey man, that one's good but the version from ?/?/?? is even better. I'll be both amazed and grateful if anyone tops a boat of mine. I'll begin with:
Boat- When the Stars Go Blue / Clifton Park 6/5/05
I've yet to hear a version where JP NAILS that soaring late lead like he did that night. A perfect rendition. Pemberton rocks.

Re: B.o.a.t.
I like the Knoxville a tad better(the parts were lined more than the individuals to my ears) but I get what you are saying about the solo...I bet you won't miss another Clifton show, rosebud

Re: B.o.a.t.
No I certainly won't....if there's ever another!
Hmmm, don't have the Knoxville I don't believe. Twould be sweet if someone could B&P me.
Ok, here's another. Is there a finer version of Bartering Lines than the one played at the 12/5/02 Groningen show?
If so, I'd sure like to hear about it!

Re: B.o.a.t.
I'll have to see if I have that one Campaigner.
How about the Mockingbird from North Charleston 6/10/05? It's the only one I've heard that goes so completely Grateful Dead. From the 00:40 to 01:10 that band actually becomes the Grateful Dead.
I mention it because it's just about replaced Nobody Girls as my favorite live RA tune. I enjoys the one from Boston 5/17 that just got put up but it doesn't have that Jerry lead the the NC one does.

Let me know if you don't, I'll do a YSI and post the link here.
Oh, what the hell - I'll do it now... hang on a sec...
Just loading it up now...
Just realising there's no need to be typing all this - but doesn't matter, will run with it. Give me a couple of minutes - gotta feed the carrier pigeon. Hungry bastard. Ought to have it neutered, that'd teach him - randy fool. Or I should just introduce to the neighbours' cat. Still loading up, god this takes time.
Just saw Gnarls Barkley on Conan - that was sweet - what's up with the bathroom gear though? Oh well, whatever floats your boat...
Here we go, enjoy;
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...D7F06F4CBECCCA
If it seems cut off at the end, that's because the cds I got directly from the guy who taped the show had 'Touch, Feel & Lose' and 'Nobody Girl' all as the one song, so I've cut the NG portion out of it. Never was the biggest fan of that song...

Re: B.o.a.t.
Oh man, many thanks but I shoulda mentioned that I don't do the download thing yet. On a 56K at home and the school here frowns on that kind of stuff with our T1 lines.
Thanks anyway. I might have it but it doesn't ring a bell.....I can track it down. Thanks for the work and the suggestion though.

Re: B.o.a.t.
I have not listened to much live stuff yet from Ryan. I will say the "Let it Ride" from the Austin City Limits TV show along with "Games" from the same program made me a fan. That's what hooked me and I quickly bought Cold Roses after the TV show. It could just be that was my first time but the slow "Let it Ride" I think is down right perfect.

Ouch, pao, as a deadhead, you will discover that Ryan is 10 times better live than on record. Just like any decent musician should be.
Drop me a PM if you need a hand getting started.

Re: B.o.a.t.
Why Do they Leave from the Sandpoint festival.
I feel that is the best version of all time of that song (in my opinion) from what I have heard.
What do people reckon?
Is there anything as good knocking around, if there is I wouldn't mind getting it.

After. Although they had played together at the Jammies, it was after that when Phil heard Cold Roses that he called Ryan and told him that he loved the record and then later asked him to play at Red Rocks with him.
